GIVEAWAY! |
DEAN, JANET
AN INCONVENIENT MATCH
His family destroyed hers. But Wade Cumming's job offer -- to care for his recuperating father -- impossible to decline. Schoolteacher Abigail Wilson can swallow her pride for the sake of a summer paycheck that will help her sister. And when Abigail's employment ends, old loyalties will separate the feuding families once more.
If there's anyone in town stubborn enough to deal with Wade's cantankerous father, it's Abigail. It's just a business arrangement -- and a temporary one, at that. Her good opinion shouldn't matter a lick to Wade. Yet their different backgrounds belie a surprising kinship. Perhaps unexpected love will be their reward for the summer's inconvenient match.
My Review:
Dean has created an emotionally tumultuous historical drama. The story is fraught with insurmountable obstacles that seem impossible for the hero and heroine to successfully scale. And that impossibility kept me turning pages, wondering just how Dean was going to get Wade and Abby together. In particular, Abigail's inward struggles raised my blood-pressure and set me to venting. It seemed like every time one issue was resolved she would set up another emotional road block until I wanted to slap her silly! LOL. But I could see where she was coming from too so I could kind of sympathize with her. I had to keep reminding myself that while I had the benefit of knowing Wade's innermost thoughts, poor Abigail did not. But I still wanted to do her a personal injury before the end of the book!

ReplyDeleteWhat a great review, Kav. You've got me going on this story as well.
ReplyDeleteI don't know what happens to the LIHs in my local Walmart. Sometimes I can't find any. I don't know if they get scooped up the day they come in or not. I always see contemporaries but no historicals!
So, I'd love to be in the drawing for Janet's books. She's great!

Thanks Debra. We don't always get the Love Inspired Line at WalMart though they carry all the other Harlequin lines but I lobbied two bookstores to bring the LI line in and they do! How cool is that. BUT they only order one of each historical and wouldn't you know -- they are always the first to go! I order mine online to be safe.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome, rubynreba.
ReplyDeleteYou too, Maureen. It's a lovely cover, isn't it?
I love Janets books too and love the look of this book also. Good cover. Sounds like Abigail may be interesting. I have read a few where I wanted to hit the heroine to tell her to get over it or to just trust. Makes for good reading.

Hey Ausjenny -- Janet's a great author, isn't she? Even if her charater's do drive me crazy!
ReplyDeleteGood luck, Ingrid!
I love the LI line too, Charity. They don't scrimp on quality even if they scrimp on word count. LOL. And you're right -- they're so easy to tote around.
Thank you for the opportunity.
