Deadly Deceit

GIVEAWAY
WALTERS, NATLIE
DEADLY DECEIT

Independent and tenacious journalist Vivian DeMarco is back in Walton, Georgia, for one reason -- to do her job and get out. When her boss suddenly dies under suspicious circumstances, Vivian's only hope for finding the truth -- and the next big story -- is small-town law enforcement's lanky poster boy, Deputy Ryan Frost. But the deeper they dig, the more twisted the truth becomes, and Vivian finds herself fighting for not only answers but also her life. False leads, incriminating emails, and someone called The Watcher force Vivian to confront the secret of her past and decide: How much is she willing to risk for the sake of a headline?

Author Natalie Walters welcomes you back to Walton, Georgia, where everyone knows your name -- but no one knows your secret.

My Review:

Once again Natalie Walters has left me so gobsmacked I'm tongue-tied! What an incredible, deeply satisfying and intriguing romantic suspense!

The author takes us back to Walton, Georgia and I absolutely love the small-town drama and mirth that brings a special light to some seriously sinister darkness. While Deadly Deceit reads totally fine as a standalone novel, fans of Walters' debut, Living Lies, will be thrilled to catch up with Charlie and Lane in this one. Along with some much loved secondary characters. There's a vibrancy and candor to the characters this author creates that make them memorable long after the story is finished.

Both Ryan and Vivian had secondary roles in the first book and it was so much fun to see them a year or so later with Vivian just as singularly minded on making her mark as a reporter. This woman is driven and guarded and isn't about to share everything she knows with a certain deputy investigating a murder. She's all big city girl biding her time in small-town Georgia until a breaking story carries her into loftier journalistic circles.

But Ryan is all small-town boy -- the town's beloved geek who made a name for himself at Quantico. Now every agency in the country wants to sign him up but his devotion to family keeps him in Walton. And he has a super crush on Vivian. A kinda nerdy super crush which is so much fun to read. Be still my heart -- the flirty banter! The multiple superhero/lady love references. The teasing! The nicknames! Zings of humour in unexpected places. Happy swoons and giddy toe-curling all the way to the end! :-)

Riveting suspense with a complicated plot full of twists and turns and danger galore add to the rabid-page-turning quality of this read. Natalie Walters is definitely high up on my list of favourite must-read romantic suspense authors.

  8. Who says you have to be big town to have suspense! Love that "DEADLY DECEIT" is small town. :)

Great cover which leads you to wonder what is on the path ahead, what she's leaving behind or maybe who is watching her from the sides. Definitely draws my attention.

The story has me anxious to read this book and definitely on my TBR lis.
