ASPEN CROSSROADS
To protect those most vulnerable, Haven Haviland must trust her heart -- and her regrets -- to a mysterious newcomer.
Few in the community of Whisper Canyon have actually met Jace Daring, a reclusive man who recently moved to Aspen Crossroads, the farm at the edge of town. But that doesn't stop rumors from spreading. He must protect the truth -- that his farm-to-table restaurant will provide new livelihoods for human trafficking survivors -- or he risks the safety and futures of those relying on him. Except he can't do it alone.
Trusting men has gotten Haven Haviland in trouble before. She's still paying for one mistake that led her to close her counseling practice. However, accepting Jace's job offer to mentor the Aspen Crossroads women seems like the perfect way to right her wrongs.
When the mayor's campaign to clean up Whisper Canyon targets Aspen Crossroads, dangers from the women's pasts are awakened, and Haven's sins are exposed for all to see. But only if Haven and Jace embrace their love for each other can they save Aspen Crossroads...and themselves.
My Review:
I can't believe this is my first book by Janine Rosche!!! I've missed her debut series and a couple of Christmas stories...how did that happen?! (hanging my head in abject bibliophile shame.)
On a happier note -- I'm in on the start of her new Whisper Canyon series! And I'm in love with the way Rosche delivers a gritty, emotional read infused with hope. Puts me in mind of Varina Denman and T.I. Lowe. You know, the kind of hard-hitting, punch-in-the-gut, feel-your-way-to-the-end kind of compelling read. Punctuated with humour and toe-curling romance.
In fact, this book has one of the sweetest, electrifying meet-cutes I've ever read! It made me grin and swoon and commit myself wholeheartedly to Haven and Jace finding their way to a happily ever after.
But, oh, the drama! Complicated family histories make them wary and their small town harbors some truly narrow-minded individuals who make life miserable for them. Not to mention the slime-ball mayor who's all about serving himself, not his constituents. Classic politician run amok who raised my blood pressure to dangerous levels.
An emotionally charged, exhilarating rush of a read!

DeleteWell, I have to start off with my cover love. I wouldn't mind spending some time in that country side. And I noticed the mountains in the background to keep me happy while visiting.
ReplyDeleteLove a story that is well-written while satisfying my sense of humor and swoon worthy romantic side. "ASPEN CROSSROADS" sure sounds like it fits the bill and I'd love the opportunity to read it.

Phew, I'm not the only one! It sure is hard keeping up with fave authors while finding new authors. I think we need more reading hours in a day. Good luck, Trixi!
DeleteThis sounds wonderful! A little like Colleen Coble’s Lonestar Sanctuary Series. And I loved those books. Thanks for the chance!

DeleteI'm glad I checked if I entered this one, because I had meant to. I think I saw it and was going to come back later. I should know better. My brain palace has been shrinking to a little uninhabited island off the coast.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I've been curious about this author and missed her first series.
tlhcoupon(at)hotmail(dot)com
Bwahahaha! Though, if you're stuck on an uninhabited island you'll have plenty of time to read. :-) You're like me, hopping into this author with a new series. I've got the first series on hold at my library. Good luck, Terrill.
