THE CHASE
Failure isn't an option
US Marshal Madison James may not be sure who shot her three months ago, but she does know one thing -- it's time to get back out into the field. When her partner, Jonas Quinn, receives a message that a federal warrant just came in on a man connected to a string of bank robberies, Madison jumps at the chance to get back to work. What she and Jonas find is a bank robbery gone wrong -- and things are about to get complicated.
For these bank robbers, it's never been about the money. It's about taking risks and adrenaline rushes, and getting caught is not part of the game. When the suspects escape, Madison and Jonas must hunt them down and bring them to justice before someone else -- someone close to them -- gets hurt...or worse.
My Review:
This second US Marshals book is just as high-octane a read as the first one! Edge-of-your-seat, nail-biting perfection, with a little left undone to tease readers for the grand finale to come in book three. So -- what you need to know about The Chase before diving in:
Yes, it's the second book in a series that has an over-arcing secondary suspense thread that isn't resolved yet BUT it also has a main suspense plot that does find resolution by the end. And the author does a great job of catching readers up on the pertinent details from The Escape though reading this book will spoil the first book's cliffhanger ending for you, so just keep that in mind if you choose to read them out of order.
Madison and Jonas are on another hair-raising pursuit and I love the way Harris includes interesting procedural details along with the gasp-out-loud action moments. Adds so much to the intrigue of the chase.
I also love the slow-burn romance that isn't going to come to fruition until the final book in the series. They are friends and co-workers nudging their way closer towards a deeper relation and I'm on tenterhooks waiting for the Hallelujah moment!
I'm not sure how I'm going to survive until April 2022 when The Catch release! (And don't you just love the terse action titles for this series...escape...chase...catch. Deliciously edgy.)

It used to be common a decade or so ago but we've been getting a few suspense series doing it again. As a rule, I like to have the suspense and romance all wrapped up by the end of a story and then continue the series with the H/h falling back into secondary roles to make way for a new H/h. BUT, i don't mind mixing it up sometimes, especially when it's as well done as this series. Good luck, Elizabeth!
