MOUNTAIN MURDER INVESTIGATION
Searching for answers brings danger in the mountains
Faking his death was the only way for architecture professor Aiden Ferrer to stay alive. Especially when he was targeted for finding evidence of a cheating ring at the university that left one student dead. But threats against his ex-fiancee, mounted police officer Raven Hart, coerce him out of hiding. Now, with the clock ticking, they must expose the identities of all university members involved before the killers strike again.
A Smoky Mountain Defenders Novel
My Review:
I love an intriguing first line, especially in a suspense novel. Like this one:
"Mounted Police Officer Raven Hart entered her dark, silent house and instinctively reached for her 9mm."
Tells you so much and so little all at the same time and definitely pulls a reader in and Kirst delivers action and suspense right through to the very last page.
I don't know why there aren't more mounted police novels out there. Love the details the author includes about the horses and how they work with their police officer partners. I'd love to see an Equine continuity series sometime!
Reunion Romance alert! And, wowzers, that first reunion scene is charged with emotion...and danger. I felt as sucker-punched as Raven when she sees Aiden for the first time in over a year. Love the way this author blends romance with action and suspense. She captures all the emotional nuances so well.
Another stellar romantic suspense from a must-read author.

I've only seen mounted police at the fair once when we went years ago. Loved the horses and the officers allowed us to pet them...so regal looking!
ReplyDeleteI agree, we have lots of K-9's why not some other animal too? 😊💖 Reunion romance and tense suspense go hand in hand I think 😉

We lived across from High Park in Toronto when I was a kid and it was patrolled by mounted police so I saw them all the time. And now I live close to where the RCMP stable and train their horses and they open their facility to the public from time to time. I would really love to see a mounted police continuity series. I think it would work really well. Good luck, Trixi!
