My Review:

You'll need a full line-up of oxygen tanks before you get started on this third book in The Nikki Boyd Files. And while part of a series, Pursued can be read as a standalone. Each book has a unique suspense thread though there is a continuous love story developing as well as an over-arcing suspense thread (Nikki's search for her missing sister) that flows through all the books.

Pursued starts off with, well, a plane crash! The plane that Nikki just happens to be traveling on! And the action and danger doesn't let up from that first chapter. Because Nikki being Nikki can't help but notice there is something 'off' about her seat mate and when she can't find her after the crash all her finely honed detective skills go into spidey overdrive. Her team pairs up with the FBI and the chase is on to find a key witness before the bad guys (of which there are plenty) do.

I've said this in my reviews of the first two books -- this series reminds me of the 90s series, Without A Trace. It has the same kind of  frantic pace as the team works time-sensitive missing persons cases. Intensity is relieved by wise-cracking quips and teasing banter. And readers walk through all the police procedure of an ongoing investigation right along with the characters. Compelling stuff that makes this one compulsive read.
