GIVEAWAY |
It's time to help me plan my New Year reading (and future giveaways) by recommending new releases (publication dates January, February or Mach 2018) and you have a chance to win one of the books you recommend! Remember to read all the details before entering!
IT'S CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE GIVEAWAY DAY
To be entered in the draw just leave a comment (or 3) below, including the title(s) of the book(s) in the Contemporary Romance genre you would like to win.
Contemporary Romance
A full-length story where the romance plays a major role and is set in the present day (1980s up). May cross genres such as dual timelines, Amish, YA but let's keep the suspense for romantic suspense day (which is tomorrow).
How does it work?
BUT YOU GOTTA FOLLOW THE RULES!
Publication dates must be
January, February or March 2018
Each day is genre specific so
only submit books from that genre
Christian Fiction books only please!
You can offer up to 3 suggestions a day
BUT
they need to be made in
three separate comments
(makes it easier for me to tally)
No email entries this week
(too hard to keep track of due to
# of responses)
NEW - entrants must submit their own selections
(not piggyback on someone else's logon) - NEW
Open to International Readers
I'm all about spreading the good news about Christian Fiction
all over the globe!!!!
It's helpful if you include your email (using AT and DOT instead of @ and . to protect yourself from spammers) but you only need to add it to one of your comments (per day). If you choose not to include your email then it's up to you to contact me if you are a winner.
Draw will be held and winner announced on
Saturday December 23 2017
What?! It's 9:00 a.m. and no comments, I'm stunned, or maybe everyone ins still thinking and waiting to see what's coming.
ReplyDeleteOkay, I'll go first,

thanks again for all the fun, Kav!

Oh-- that's a new to me LI Amish author. Cool beans. Good luck, Kay.
DeleteI was busy searching for a contemporary that didn't have suspense, Tracey. lol I would LOVE to read:
ReplyDelete1) Some Say Love by Staci Stallings (Jan. 2018)
dianalflowers(at)aol(dot)com
Hi Diane, I know, it's not as easy as it seems. I have the fewest Contemporaries on my list of any other category!
DeleteHappy searching!
Thanks, Tracey. Seems my favorite contemporary authors such as Becky Wade, Denise Hunter, etc. are coming out in May and June. Love Colleen's Coble's books, but hers are contemporary suspense.
DeleteDid I make this too hard? I just thought there's be a ton of new contemps coming out the beginning of the year. I'm pretty sure Ruth Logan Herne has at least one. I'll have to do some research. :-) And you can include Amish and dual timelines. Good luck, Diana.
DeleteNo Kav you didn't make it too hard at all, it's just that I have some review books I would have picked, like Ruthy's. She does have an LI coming out in Feb called Her Secret Daughter.
Delete:/ I can't find any Ruth Logan Herne books for 2018
DeleteI think this is the one she mentioned (or 1 of them anyway)

Jackie, this one is romantic suspense so has to wait until tomorrow. I was mean and said no romantic suspense in the the description of a contemporary novel. I was thinking of categories along the lines of the awards they do. Sorry about that.
DeleteThe Lost Castle by Kristy Cambron 2/6
ReplyDeleteI'm going to go ahead and admit it, I haven't read anything by this author, but have heard such good things about her writing. This book has a triple timeline, French Revolution, WW2 and present day! (And a castle, so yes to that!)
tracey14567 at gmail dot com
I know --- a triple timeline is certainly ambitious. Anxious to read this one too. Good luck, Tracey.
DeleteYES! She is a really good story teller Tracey! You MUST read Ringmaster's Wife! The only thing I wish is that it had a little more Faith included, but what's in there is GREAT!
DeleteKav: YES it is SO ambitious! I can't even imagine writing it. I'm just hoping to keep up with it all in reading it! IT SOUNDS SO GOOD! :D
Merry CHRISTmas! :)

Eeeekkkk -- I love that series by Susan May Warren!!! And I hear great things bout Janet Ferguson's books but they are only in ebook format. :-( Good luck, Jackie.
Delete3) Crossing Center Ice by Kimberly Rae Jordan (Jan. 2018)
ReplyDeleteI don't know anything about this author but the book sounded good and it's Christian fiction. Thanks, Kav!
dianalflowers(at)aol(dot)com
Good luck, Diana.
DeleteI wanted to put Troubled Waters instead, but I looked at the labels on Amazon & it said mystery/suspense. No?
DeleteTroubled Waters by Susan May Warren isn't suspense. It's adventure. There's a bit of an over arcing suspense about Ian's missing niece that's in the background of each book but it doesn't play a significant role in the plot and the hero and/or heroine aren't in danger from villians. Elements maybe but not villians. The author has this series pegged as Adventure not Suspense so I'm getting my info straight from the source. :-) Want to switch one of yours, Diana?
DeleteYep, I sure do! Glad I said something. Thanks!
DeleteOops, sorry. You may just switch it for this one since I'm unfamiliar with Kimberly Jordan. Now I'll make my exit before I drive u bonkers. LOL

ReplyDeleteEvery Dog Has His Day (A Bluff Point Romance)
ReplyDeleteby Jenn McKinlay
Release date January 2018
2clowns at arkansas dot net
This one isn't Christian Fiction either, Kay. This blog is all about promoting the Christian Fiction industry so I'm a stickler on this one criteria. Plus, I have found that even sweet looking covers in the mass market industry hide profanity and detailed sex scenes which I don't want to promote. Hence the Christian Fiction criteria. If you are looking on Amazon, scroll down to the product details and look for 'Christian' in the tags at the bottom. This one just says Contemporary Romance. It may be a great book, but not one for this giveaway. Feel free to submit another title.
DeleteI wholeheartedly agree and want to go by the rules. Guess I'm not as good at looking up release dates with types as I thought I was. I did type in Christian Fiction Jan Feb March 2018 in Amazon. I guess the big mistake I made was thinking all the books they showed me were in that category. So with your patience and allowance I will try this again. <3
DeleteSome Say Love: A Contemporary Christian Romance Novel (The Hope Series Book 3)
by Staci Stallin
Release date January 2018
This one really spoke to me on the point of having to start over and having God by our side when we do.
Thanks again!
Yeah, Amazon isn't always reliable. I think it catches all the descriptors individually instead of all together. I was looking for Christian Contemporary Romance and while the first page was exactly that it started to morph to just contemporary romance for some reason. Anyway, glad you found a substitute. Good luck, Kay.

ReplyDeleteladepooh AT hotmail dot com
This category is taking some digging, I see. I'll have to try my hand at some research. Good luck, Lea.
DeleteThis title has been popular both days. Good luck, Kate.
ReplyDeleteI guess I accidentally hit preview (?) instead of publish earlier in the day, but I am not finding my posting. One of those hurried days, I guess! Surprisingly, there seem to be fewer than usual basic contemporary fiction releases during the first quarter. Interesting.....is coincidence or indicative of a trend? I am looking at publisher websites, Goodreads, and ChristianBook. I will go with an Amish contemporary series I have been reading, Words From the Heart, Kathleen Fuller, February 2018. Thanks! dobeworld at sbcglobal dot net
ReplyDeleteArgh -- that's frustrating. Yes -- I didn't realize that there was so few Contemps releasing compared to Historicals. Wash't it just a year or so ago that they were saying Historicals were waning and Contemporary was the new fave in Christian Fiction? Atleast we have Amish and dual timelines to fall back on. I've been hunting up my favourite authors and all the contemp books seem to be coming out Apirl, May and June. (I feel another Reader's Choice week in our future.lol) I'll keep checking and if I find anything new and exciting I'll post in this thread.
DeleteGood luck, CC!
I remember that speculation about historicals waning. However, they seem more popular than ever. Something I am noticing is what appears to be an increase in more "current" historicals set during WWII. Of the top of my head I can think of 4 books set during that period to release during the first quarter.
DeleteOoooh - I like that WWII time period. I'm aware of Tricia Goyer and Sarah Sundin. Will have to check for me. And as far as historical time periods go -- I'm noticing more Regency era (yay!) which a few years ago was considered by puplishers to be unpopular! lol
DeleteThere does seem to be less Contemp. coming out, but my favorite go-to authors do have books coming out, just not in Jan/Feb/Mar.
ReplyDeleteFor reference only for those who keep a list-
4/3 Pelican Point/Irene Hannon
5/1 Storm Front/Susan May Warren
Honeysuckle Dreams/Denise Hunter
Falling For You/Becky Wade
7/3 Dead Drift/Dani Pettrey
Bwahahaha! That's what I discovered too. Thanks for the list, Tracey.
DeleteI have read two books by Kristy Cambron, A Sparrow in Terezin and the Butterfly and the Violin , which were good. So, I adding to my list the multiple time line book, The Lost Castle. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThis one looks really intriguing, doesn't it? Good luck, CC.
DeleteSo it just so happens that Carrie Booth Schmidt is compiling a Jan - April 2018 list and she asked authors on Facebook to let her know if they are releasing a book in the New Year. Here's some of the responses:
ReplyDeleteIrresistibly Yours by Andrea Boyd (ebook only,Feb)
The Inadvertent Princess by Carol Monacado (ebook only, Jan.)
Well boo to ebook only! :( Me and ebooks DO NOT get along!!! That's right 3 exclamation points! LOL!
DeleteAgreed! Ebooks are free half the time, but I'll admit, my sisters and I have maybe read three in our lives. And that's between the six of us! What appeal can free ebooks have over a bought-and-paid-for paperback?
DeleteAmada and Elly I am sooooo on board the paperback reading train!!!! I don't read ebooks either. I need to be able to give my book a welcoming hug just like I would a friend. :-) (And real books smell nicer than ebooks.)
DeleteAmen Elly!
DeleteAmen Kav! LOL! On both the hugging and smelling! I just have to have the feel of the pages between my fingers. It makes the story SO much better! :)
Haha I so understand your points for print. It took awhile for me to hop aboard the eBook-Train but to stick up for the smelly ebooks LOL ;)
DeleteI like them because I have headphones and/or a bluetooth that I put on and can "Read" or listen to the book being read to me (Not Audible, The free text to speech that comes with most books {it takes a bit of getting used to} but I hardly notice it now) while I'm mowing the grass, driving etc. for examples.
Plus I don't have to carry an actual book around with me I can set it on the counter and take care of my kids and other household chores while "Reading a book" (My friends call it cheating)
And for people who don't have a budget with book money Those Free Books ROCK and online library books are free too of course
So for a small investment of a kindle (especially while on sale) I can read for a long time until my kindle dies for almost free (Cause I do still spend a couple bucks on a book now and then which equals to almost one print book a month
All valid points, Linda, I'll give you that. But I'm still not convinced. lol I've read too many dystopian novels lately and at least I have the comfort of knowing I'll still have books to read when the power goes out while you kindle readers will go without. Ha! :-)
DeleteHahaha I hear that LOL
DeleteI still have a TON of print books too so I won't be totally out of luck except that none of my flashlights or book lights will probably work when I need them LOL
has anyone mentioned Saturday Night Supper Club by Carla Laureano, The Heart Between Us by Lindsay Harrel, or Focus on Love by Candee Fick?
ReplyDeleteYes to Saturday Night Supper Club and I just added Focus on Love to this thread. The Heart Between Us looks awesome!

Sigh. I already have Troubled Waters and Saturday Night Supper Club. Have never read Francine Rivers. Don’t read Amish books. I guess I’m out of options? But April-June and beyond for 2018 look like there will be plenty of GREAT options for contemporary romance.
ReplyDeleteIf Carla Laureano re-releases Under the Scottish Stars and London Tide between Jan-March, please throw them in the hat for me!
mindyhoungATmsnDOTcom
Francine Rivers is an AMAZING author! I DEFINITELY recommend you putting hers as one of your choices. Not kidding, she's one of the best authors I've ever read!
DeleteIt's funny how it seems there will be a wave of historicals releasing in early 2018 followed by a wave of contemporaries in the spring. Wonder if the publishers planned that or if it's just a random thing? Do readers crave historicals in the winter and contemporaries in the spring? There must be a marketing strategy in there somewhere. Good luck, Mindy!
DeleteI'm really late here but anyway...
ReplyDeleteI don't read a lot of contemporary so this is a harder category for me to choose. I already have Susan May Warren's Troubled Waters and many others on my want-to-read list coming out AFTER March. Here's one I am looking forward to and I hope it's under the contemporary category otherwise, I have no idea...lol!

Jan 9th 2018
I was going to say An Amish Kitchen (someone else chose that one) but it's already released? Unless there is a re-release or something?
Thank You for the chances Kav
iamabho at gmail dot com
I think Amish Kitchens is being released as a mass market paperback -- so smaller sized books not the lovely larger paperbacks we're used to getting in our Christian Fiction. It seems this is a new trend for Christian publishing -- rereleasing books they think will do well in the mainstream market. Nifty marketing strategy acutally. Good luck, Linda.
DeleteOK Well If I could change Amish Sweethearts to An Amish kitchen then for this one My 3rd choice
