Justice Delivered

GIVEAWAY
BRADLEY, PATRICIA
JUSTICE DELIVERED

Carly Smith came by her trust issues honestly. She's been at the mercy of merciless men, ignored by law enforcement officers who should have helped her, and seemingly rejected by her family. She can't seven trust herself to do the right thing. Though she is working hard on building a new life, the past continues to haunt her when she discovers that the man she couldn't bring herself to report to the police is still out there, luring vulnerable girls under the guise of being a modeling agent.

When her own niece is kidnapped, Carly must overcome her fears and come forward with the information she has. But if that proves to be too little, too late -- she'll have to go after the perpetrators herself.

My Review:

Tough subject matter makes this a hard read at times. Kudos to the author for handling the topic with grace and compassion as well as portraying Carly's recovery journey realistically. This is the kind of suspense that knots your stomach and keeps a reader on edge all the way through -- especially when I began putting pieces together and the alarm bells started clanging in my head. It got to the point where I just couldn't put the book down. I had to voraciously gobble up the last half in one sitting.

This is the fourth book in the Memphis Cold Case series and Patricia Bradley fans will be happy to reconnect with some characters from the previous books but Justice Delivered also reads perfectly fine as a standalone. It's lighter on the romance then the previous books which makes sense given the nature of the suspense thread. But there is romance -- two, in fact -- just not the major focus of the story.

A plot with plenty of twists and turns -- where you sit frozen in your chair waiting for the other shoe to drop -- and the kind of characters it's easy to care about and root for make Justice Delivered an incredible thrill of a read

  9. I've never read anything by Patricia Bradley but as a newer fan to the romantic suspense genre it looks like she's one of the best. I'm glad that the romance thread is less in the foreground for a book with difficult subject matter.

  11. Lately, I've been really enjoying books that aren't straight romance. I think that's why I'm enjoying more mystery/suspense and women's fiction. I have all the previous books in this series, but still need to read the previous book before this one. You have me very intrigued by your vague mention of Carly's issues, though. I'm reading Susan May Warren's most recent, Knox, right now and the heroine has some past trauma, as well. It hasn't all been revealed, but it sounds like it's going to be sensitive and gritty. I'm excited for you to read that one, too.

    1. Yep -- Knox is in my sightlines! :-) I'm still about the romance but I don't mind reading outside that from time to tome, though I'm always happy when there's a bit of a love story too. Good luck, Terrill!

    2. I completely agree. I can be satisfied with the barest thread of romance. I will enjoy the rest of the story, but it's that small thread of romance that has me turning pages for the most part. I feel so shallow admitting that. 😂
