Trained to Defend

GIVEAWAY
BARRITT, CHRISTY
TRAINED TO DEFEND

"Take Buzz and run. Far away...and don't trust the police."

Framed for her boss's murder, Sarah Peterson is on the run -- with only her boss's loyal husky, Buzz, for protection. To clear her name and keep her safe, she must rely on her ex-fiance, former detective Colton Hawk. The police aren't the only ones searching for Sarah and the brave dog...the real killer is on the hunt, determined to silence them for good.

K-9 Mountain Guardians

My Review:

Seriously, put a dog on the cover of a book and I'm likely to buy it. :-) Then, when I noticed who the author was and that it's part of a new K-9 series I might have howled with delight. And...well...how can anyone resist a husky hero with a name like Buzz? That sold it for me right there..

Buzz is one cool dog -- great under pressure, valiant in the face of adversity and a fuzzy hot water bottle during the down times. His action scenes are pretty epic too. :-) Of course, he has Colton for back up -- you know, to do the kind of tasks that require opposable thumbs.

Love that Colton and Sarah have a history. I was yearning for resolution for them both. I felt their pain and past heartache and it made for an emotionally edge-of-your-seat romance. Of course, it's kind of hard to settle down and talk things through with a killer on your trail. Lots of cat-and-mouse action scenes and plenty of tense moments make the suspense absolutely riveting.

This is the first book in the K-9 Mountain Guardians series. I don't have much info about the series -- looks to be standalone novels with no over-arcing plot threads. But they all share working dogs in wilderness settings as a theme. I'll be reading them all!

"TRAINED TO DEFEND" sounds fabulous and I can't wait for the opportunity to read about Buzz - ok Colton and Sarah too. I'm over due for a edge of your seat read and this one might just fill that bill.

  8. I felt the same way when I saw the author! I tend to avoid some of these series because of the over-arcing threads. I have a hard time keeping up sometimes. I'm excited that these are possible standalones.
