Carol Award Finalists 2021 -- Contemporary

GIVEAWAY

First off -- what exactly are the Carol Awards?

They are awards given out by American Christian Fiction Writers (ACFW) in recognition of outstanding Christian fiction in the previous calendar year. So these 2021 finalists are books published in 2020. You might have read them already, you might not. I'll include links to reviews of the books I've read, but I have a lot of catching up to do so there will be gaps.

How does this giveaway work?

You select which of the Carol Award finalists 2021 -- Contemporary Category you would like to receive if your name is drawn. Mention the title in your comment (or an email if you're entering that way) and if you win, that's the book that will be sent to you. Easy Peasy. Here are the three finalists:

The Promised Land
by Elizabeth Musser, Bethany House (Baker) Publishing, Editor L.B. Norton

With her oldest son taking a gap year in Europe, her aging father losing his sight and his memory, and her husband of twenty years announcing that he's leaving her, Abbie Bartholomew Jowett is surrounded by overwhelming loss.

Desperate to mend her marriage and herself, she follows her son, Bobby, to walk the famed Camino pilgramage. During their journey they encounter Rasa, an Iranian woman working in secret helping other refugees, and Caroline, a journalist who is studying pilgrims on the Camino while searching for answers from her brokenpast.

Each individual has their own reasons for the pilgrimage, but together they learn that the Camino strips you  bare and calls you into deep soul-searching that can threaten all your best laid plans.

If For Any Reason
by Courtney Walsh, Tyndale House, Editors: Stephanie Broene and Danika King

Emily Ackerman has traveled the world, her constant compass and companion a book of letters her mother left her when she died. With no father in the picture, her mom's advice has been her only true north. But when professional failure leads Emily back to Nantucket to renovate and sell the family cottage she inherited, she wonders if her mom left advice to cover this...especially when her grandmother arrives to "supervise."  And especially when her heart becomes entangled with Hollis McGuire, the boy next door-turned-baseball star who's back on the island after a career-ending injury.

As sparks fly between her and Hollis, Emily is drawn to island life, even as she uncovers shocking secrets about the tragic accident that led to her mother's death. With her world turned upside down, Emily must choose between allowing the voices from her past to guide her future or forging her own path forward.

On a Coastal Breeze
by Suzanne Woods Fisher, Revell, a Division of Baker Publishing Group, Editors: Andrea Doering and Barb Barnes

For Madison Grayson, life is good. Newly licensed as a marriage and family therapist, she can't wait to start her practice. Despite the unfortunate shortage of eligible bachelors on the island -- they're all too young, too old, or too weird -- Maddie feels like she's finally found her sweet spot. Not even one panic attack in the last year. Not one.

And then Ricky O'Shea drops in. Literally. Floating down from the pure blue sky, the one man in the world she hoped never to see again -- the one who'd been her archnemesis from kindergarten through her senior dance -- parachutes into town, landing on Boon Dock, canopy dropping behind him like a superhero. Ricky O'Shea. Now Pastor Rick, the new minister on Three Sisters Island.

Time to panic.

With with and a bit of whimsy, bestselling author Suzanne Woods Fisher invites you back to Three Sisters Island where family, forgiveness, and second chances at love await.

Yay, I read this one! Here's a link to my review: https://bestreads-kav.blogspot.com/2020/05/on-coastal-breeze.html
