QUARTERLY GOALS REVIEW
GIVEAWAY!
It's super easy -- you just need to share at least one reading goal you have made for 2022. Can be as simple as the # of books you'd like to read or an author you'd like to try or a genre you want to focus on. Anything goes, they're your goals, after all. And, if you're comfortable sharing, let us know how you are progressing. Then, in the same comment, list a book that will help you reach your goal. So it looks like this:
"I want to catch up on some suspense series. Night Prey by Susan Sleeman."
****NOTE: BOOKS MUST BE CHRISTIAN FICTION****
You can enter up to three times in three separate comments -- and you can use the same goal or different ones each time.
Books can be published any time up until JUNE 2022. Currently published books will be ordered the first week in April for the winners, otherwise it will be an IOU for a April, May or June 2022 title.
See? Easy Peasy. But if you're still not clear, don't be shy about asking questions.
*IMPORTANT NOTE: TODAY'S GIVEAWAY IS OPEN TO EMAIL ENTRIES. JUST TYPE 'READING GOALS' IN THE SUBJECT LINE AND THEN LIST YOUR ENTRY SELECTIONS IN THE BODY OF THE EMAIL.*

READING GOALS
QUARTERLY REVIEW:
116 books read (that seems like a lot, but keep in mind, I live alone and have a chronic pain condition that limits what I can do. Plus I have a tedious amount of stretches and exercises to do daily, plus walks and listening to books is my dangling carrot! :-) And yes, audible books have really increased the number of books I am able to read.
13 books DNF (Did Not Finish) mostly because of content issues, only 3 Christian Fiction books -- 2 because I just couldn't get into the story and 1 because it had a dreaded love triangle that was reported to last most of the book.
#1 READ MORE INDIE AUTHORS
5 books -- Need to do better on this goal!
#2 CATCH UP ON SERIES I'M BEHIND IN
Need to better with this goal too!
2 series completely caught up

#3 READ MORE DEBUT AUTHORS
6 authors -- not bad, but could do better
#4 READ MORE NEW-TO-ME AUTHORS
8 authors
#5 DIVERSIFY MY READING
34 books! -- Yay me!!
This is largely thanks to my penchant for Regency Romances though, 'cause I had a lot of UK settings. By the end of the year the US might be considered a diverse setting for me. Bwahahaha! Here's the breakdown:
Diverse settings:
17 books set in the UK
4 books set in Canada
3 books set in France
1 book set in Australia
1 book set in Africa
Diverse author nationality:
1 Canadian
2 British
2 Australian
8 Ethnically diverse authors
8 books with ethnically diverse characters
5 books with disabled or chronically ill characters
#6 STAY CURRENT WITH SERIES
19 series current to date!!!
#7 START NEW-TO-ME SERIES
16 new series started! (ack, I'm already worried about keeping up!)
#8 PLAY AUTHOR CATCH-UP
Sigh, making some headway but haven't completely caught up with any of my targeted authors yet!
#9 READ OUTSIDE MY COMFORT ZONE (OCCASIONALLY!)
2 books -- oops, I'm still avoiding these but I did read a hockey book!!!!
#10 GIVE UNLOVED TROPES A SECOND CHANCE
0 books read!!!!! What can I say, I'm a reader of habit! Clearly I know what I like and gravitate towards that. I did try a love triangle but I DNFed it!!!! Oops again.
Tada! That's it (so far!) So, now it's your turn:

DRAW WILL BE HELD AND WINNER ANNOUNCED ON
SATURDAY APRIL 2 2022
Happy Sunday, Kav, & Happy Spring everyone! Another Reader's Choice Week already! EEP! Where did the time fly?
ReplyDeleteKav, I accomplished some goals, but they're puny next to yours! Very. I haven't been able to read very quickly as vertigo & dizziness has worsened (hoping it's the SC pine pollen & will dissipate!) I've read 3 new authors: Toni Shiloh, Michelle Shocklee, and Heidi Kimball & meeting my diversity goals by visiting Africa, Scotland, the Tennessee Expo!
Another goal is to play catchup with some fave authors & series!
1) The Dress Shop on King Street by Ashley Clark
dianalflowers(at)aol(dot)com
Oh yes, and I've been to England, too. I'm quite the world traveller! (snort)
DeleteAnd India via Kim Duffy!
DeletePlay catchup & finish series!
ReplyDelete2) Every Word Unsaid by Kimberly Duffy
Bah humbug -- no happy spring here. It's snowing!!!!! The only spring I'll find is in the pages of a book!
DeleteSorry to hear that your vertigo is being nasty. A shame you can't listen to books. I'm quite the audible book convert.
Love your globe trotting, Diana! I'd like to read my way around the world but that's hard to do with Christian Fiction. Good luck, Diana!
Ugh, sorry about the snow. Hopefully April will bring you some nice spring weather! Our daisies are starting to pop up in my flower garden. Color!!! Yippee!
DeleteThanks. I started to go to ER yesterday, but was really worried they might not have WiFi in the hospital if they admitted me for tests & I wouldn't be able to enter or read all the entries in the readers choice contest! 😲 Thankfully hubby told me to call my Dr tomorrow so here I am. That's loyalty for you. I think I just won my bestreads loyalty badge! 😄
It was -12 and freezing when I took my walk this afternoon. Back to the heavy winter coat and the mittens and scarf and -- gah!
DeleteDiana, I love your company but if you need to go to the ER, you go to the ER!!!!! Definitely should be a premium loyalty package on Best Reads for the likes you you!!!!!
LOL! Hubby thought (and I agree) it would better to go to my regular Dr who knows my history than an ER Dr. Have an appt with my Dr Thurs, then he can refer me to a neurologist if he sees fit.
DeleteI'm so sorry about the -12 weather. Gah, its almost April! You're my hero to take a walk in that! I let 50° weather stop me. I'm a sissy girl. 😫

ReplyDeleteYou're making tracks on your goal too. Good luck, Beauty!
DeleteEnjoyed catching up on your analysis and that of other readers! In trying to broaden my regular reading habits, I am trying to introduce more cozy mysteries. So, Premeditated Peppermint by Amanda Flowers sounds very appealing.
ReplyDeleteTo finish up a series and add titles to my permanent keeper shelf....Caught by Surprise by Jen Turano.
ReplyDeleteA new to me author....Where the Road Bends by Rachel Fordham, June 2022. Thanks for the fun and fellowship, with RCW being the icing on the cake!
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteTo follow up on your comment and Diana's, I was looking back and note I have read 35 books and the settings included the U.S., England, France, Poland, and Italy. It is interesting and a bit surprising to do the analysis.
DeleteHave to admit I'm trying hard to find books for my diversity goals. It's definitely influencing what I'm reading, hence all the Regencies!!! lol I need to armchair travel to more countries!
DeleteYay -- a cozy convert. Hope you enjoy Amanda Flower. Everyone seems to love her whether they are Christian fiction readers or not and I love that series.
Good luck, CC!
Wow, that's awesome, CC! We just may make it all the way across the globe yet! It's so exciting visiting & learning about new places via novels that we may never get to see otherwise!

Patti Callahan, Lynn Backburn and Esther Hatch.
*Lastly, I try to keep current on series, which brings me to my 3 RC picks for today:

ReplyDeleteLooking forward to all the new reading suggestions!
I'm trying to juggle reading more new to me authors while keeping current with the ones I'm already attached to. It's a delicate balancing act! Good luck, Tracey!
Delete2022 Reading Goals Wishlist ~ 1st goal: Continue with series I have begun reading ~ third book of new author (I have completed this! Do you race yourself on Good Reads. I'm always eyeing my stats where it tells you how many boks you're ahead or behind. I'm doing great for now but then I have a week like this week where I'm not posting reviews and the numbers will go back down. lol Good luck, Paula!
DeleteKav, what a fun idea for one of the giveaway days! One of my reading goals is to continue to catch up on Laura Frantz's backlist. She is one of my absolute favorite authors - I now automatically preorder her books :)

My Goodreads Challenge is set at 200 this year.
ReplyDelete#3 The Letter from Briarton Park by Sarah E. Ladd.

Good luck, Caryl!
DeleteMy reading goal is 110 and I’m on #27. Until Leaves Fall In Paris by Sarah Sundin is one I hope to read.
ReplyDeleteleliamae54(at)aol(dot)com
#2 Read a new author to me Ashley Clark. Where the Last Rose Blooms
ReplyDelete#3 read the Jaime Jo Wright book I missed last year when my mom passed. On the Cliffs of Foxglove Manor
ReplyDeleteYou're on your way with some great catch-up reads. Good luck, Lucy!
DeleteThe only "goal" I set for myself this year is to read mostly from the books already on my shelf. Which, I've not done a bad job about it but I know I CAN do better. I blame all the shiny new books coming out...lol! I do have to pat myself on the back though, I read quite a few & gave them to my sister-in-law last week when I went to visit her for Spring Break :-) I'll see her again in May, so here's crossing my fingers that I have another nice pile to give her!
ReplyDeleteGoal #1: Keep current with one "favorite" author and their series:
Turn to Me by Becky Wade~Misty River #3 (May 2022)
Geesh, coming up with more than one "goal" is taxing my brain...lol! I've had far too many DNF (did not finish)books lately and I don't know if it's because I couldn't get into the book or I lost interest in the story/characters, or what exactly. So far Regency fiction (clean or CF) has piqued & kept my interest more than any other genre.
ReplyDeleteI said all that for goal #2: Catch up on a Regency author I've read/loved/devoured their books in the past:
Vying for the Viscount by Kristi Ann Hunter~Hearts on the Heath #1 (August 2020)
Lastly, how about reading a new-to-me biblical fiction author/book? I've read & loved ones by Jill Eileen Smith so I'd love to branch out with similar writers.
ReplyDeleteI've heard many good things about Angela Hunt & this book sounds interesting, so I'd choose:
#3 A Woman of Words by Angela Hunt~ Jerusalem Road book 3 (May 2021)
Trixi you must read Connilyn Cossette biblical fiction.
DeleteHmmm, here's how I look at the whole read from your shelves thing. Once you buy a book you put it on your shelf and -- voila-- you are reading from your shelf!
DeleteI'm with Lucy on Connilyn Cossette. I don't read a lot of biblical fiction but I have enjoyed Connilyn's books. Still haven't read them all though. maybe she should go on my author catch-up list. Good luck, Trixi!
I guess I should make my statement clearer...lol....I have books I put on my shelf years ago that I've never picked up to read. So reading ones that have been languishing there for far too long is more what I meant my goal is. I've felt an extreme guilt for allowing them to gather dust....*cough cough* 😂
DeleteI hope that makes more sense? 😊
DeleteIt sure makes sense to me, Trixi! 😊
DeleteI cleaned out my smaller bookcase about a month ago & found a Courtney Walsh book sitting there! Courtney Walsh! One of my fave authors! Just sitting there unread collecting dust. Eek! Just bc it's an older book, I guess I just skipped over that 1 & then forgot about it. Sheesh!
DeleteThank goodness for spring cleaning! I don't put my books on a shelf until they have been read. The lonely unread books are all higgedly piggedly piled up waiting their turn so I don't lose track of a book on a shelf.
DeleteRead 150 books this year: I'm up to about 40 books read, I think. So I better step up my game with When the Meadow Blooms by Ann H. Gabhart. :D
ReplyDeleteeclitton at gmail dot com
Nothing like getting new books to fuel the reading fervor. Good luck, Elizabeth!
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteThis one isn't Christian Fiction so it doesn't fit the giveaway criteria. feel free to choose another title.
DeleteStay current with favorite authors: I've done pretty well with this one. :D Long Way Home by Lynn Austin is definitely on my TBR list.
ReplyDeleteeclitton at gmail dot com
Good luck, Elizabeth. It's hard to stay current with fave authors when we keep adding more to that list. :-)
DeleteI only set a couple reading goals for this year. One is to play catch up on a few book series I'm behind on. And the second is to read 50 books. I'm already way behind on both.lol
ReplyDeleteThe price of Spies by Elizabeth Camden

ReplyDeleteFinding Faith by Denise Hunter

Goals shouldn't be stressors so just go wit the flow and enjoy the books you do get to read. I discovered that my library has a bunch of Denise Hunter and Lisa Wingate books -- older ones -- which I plan to get to this year as well. Good luck, Lea!
DeleteI'm trying to catch up on some of my books in my TBR pile (which is toppling over right now!) However, I keep piling on more books! LOL
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping to add this one, though!
A Hundred Crickets Singing by Cathy Gohlke
whthomas 13 at yahoo dot com
We can never have too many books, can we? Good luck, Winnie!
DeleteI've read 24 of my 115 goal. Goodreads says that's 21% and I'm three books behind schedule. I'll catch up in the summer.

ReplyDeleteWow, you're ahead, Cindy! The Trouble with Tulip sounds really good and it's part of a mystery series! Have never heard of it! Good luck, Cindy!
DeleteOne of my goals was to read some books that I’d not read yet by my favorite authors. So far I’m 0 for 3 with that one😅 At least I’ve accomplished some catching up on reading series’ and trying out some new authors😉
