My Review:

published in 2012

Warning to avid readers who make a New Year's Resolution to reorganize their bookshelves:

Don't empty out an entire bookcase, making piles on every conceivable flat surface including your floor because you're inevitably going to start reading, and then it will be bedtime only you won't be able to find your mattress for the books burying it!

This is my second read through of Prize of My Heart. Honestly, this book has haunted me. I still get a delicious thrill remembering the biblio-phoria of it all. Best first meet ever! I mean, I still remember it vividly eight years later!

Rich language evokes such incredible images that I swear I can still smell the tangy scent of salt  in the air! Norato's descriptive writing will send you back to a time when heroes were larger than life just like ex-privateer Brogan Talvis. (Insert collective sigh here!) A tortured soul filled with the grim determination to right a wrong on his own terms. Is there anything more swoonworthy than a reluctant hero in navy dress? The kind that has a keen sense of justice and the gall to set out administering it as he sees fit? Only to be laid low by the likes of a baking-diva heroine with a backbone of steel? (Insert another collective sigh...or two or three.)

Lorena makes a captivating heroine. Feisty but gentle, stubborn but compassionate, a lady as comfortable in the role as kitchen maid as she is entertaining her father's elite guests. What a a wonderful paradox! And one that Brogan finds all too hard to resist.

Of course their love story is fraught with peril -- both physical and emotional. And tickled with humour. Often poignant. And hope-fueled even in their darkest hour! Prize of My Heart is definitely a delight to read and not one that historical fans dare miss.

  2. I was about to enter because this sounds so intriguing, but I checked my amazon account and found I bought this, in 2012! I have so many unread books just waiting for me, I will never read them all but I'm going to give it a good go! I remember this one really appealing to me.
LOL on the reorganizing bookshelves warning! I can not tell you how many times this has happened to me. Just yesterday I was looking for all the books I owned by one author and it almost got me again, the pull was strong, haha, like the Siren's song, I have to remind myself, just don't open that book!

The reader life is a distracted life. But I am curious, how are you planning to organize them this time? :)

    1. That's when I read it first -- March 2012. Like a Siren's song is the perfect way to describe the lure of books sitting on our shelves.

So...the organizing thing? Might have been overly ambitious. Snort. I have everything by genre right now. Half the historical and all the Amish is in my bedroom and I wanted to get all the Historical together but then I started reading so...Ideally, I need to fit in another bookcase (maybe 2 or 3?) and then I want to redo by author. Maybe. Oh...I can't decide!!! lol

    1. Ha -- by the time I'm finished I'll end up needing a new bookshelf because I'll keep adding books as I go and then I'll have to start all over again. Good luck, CC!

  6. How have I missed this book? I will have to scour around and see if I can find a copy - somewhere. Since I'm horrible about reading ebooks (they keep getting pushed back for the book in my hand), I'll pass on the giveaway. Thank you for the heads up to add to my find it somewhere list. :)

    1. Ha! You don't pile your books all over your house because you don't live alone. You have to abide by some social courtesy while I am free to be eccentrically bookish. Good luck, Trixi!

  9. I've seen some of this author's books on Amazon, but haven't read any. Your review cracked me up, as well as got me excited to read this one. If a reviewer re-reads a book, that's a huge recommendation.
