My Review:
Awesome debut! Loved the pacing -- plenty of action but it's broken up by enough relationship-building down time which enhanced the reunion romance. And the opening scene is whiplash drama worthy! Definitely caught my attention and kept me reading.
Grace is the small-town girl who really didn't want to come back home and she's determined to make her stay temporary...until a brutal attack puts her sister in the hospital and Grace herself in the crosshairs of a killer. Relentless attacks keep Grace and ex-boyfriend Chief Evan Bradshaw in close proximity to each other which stirs up lots of old feelings as they try to catch a killer and figure out his motive.
Love a veterinarian heroine -- my second of the week, actually, which isn't all that common! And there's a Goliath of a Great Dane sidekick who brought plenty of warm fuzzies to the story. And Evan's son, Camden is pretty cute too. Ha, trust me to go for the dog before the human every time. :-)
But what really has me intrigued are Evan's Private Investigator friends. Me thinks they need they're own series (pretty please with a cherry on top!) Will definitely be looking for future books by Rhonda Starnes.
