THE TRAITOR'S PAWN
When FBI agent Jack Shannon arrives in Corpus Christi, Texas, he is focused on one thing: find the man who has been selling encrypted government secrets to the Chinese through online birding chat rooms. But when a senator is shot during a hunting trip and the woman he was with is abducted, Jack agrees to join the search -- especially when he discovers that the kidnapping victim is Aubrey Grayson, a woman he was once in love with.
As the search continues, it becomes clear the senator may not have been the intended victim -- and Aubrey may be connected to the other case Jack is supposed to be working on. Can Jack untangle the knots before it's too late? And when he learns the truth, will it be too painful to get past?
Join the hunt for the truth -- and a traitor -- in this tension-laden story of secrets, betrayal and second chances.
My Review:
Whoa! Whoa! Whooooaaaa! Be prepared for some whiplash worthy plot twists and so much tension I 'bout turned blue holding my breath! I don't think my racing heart has calmed down yet either. Might consider The Traitor's Pawn a cardiac workout too.
And one of things I love the most about this romantic suspense is the way the romance develops. Harris gives enough breathing time between action scenes to really settle into Jack and Aubrey's relationship. They were best friends pulled apart by circumstance and watching them slowly lower their guard and fall back into the easy camaraderie of their youth is pure reading pleasure.
A kick butt spy thriller full of espionage, betrayal and an emotional reunion-ish romance!

The only book I've read by Lisa Harris was "A Secret to Die For"....and wowsers was that a thrill-a-minute episode of epic proportions! I still have whiplash...or is that booklash...from reading it, lol!

Oh, I remember Nikki Boyd! Good luck, Caryl!
DeleteAnd it's a second chance romance!😍 I almost prefer when their is a previous connection between the H/h in a book where the narrative is somewhat split between the suspense plot and the romance.
ReplyDeletetlhcoupon(at)hotmail(dot)com
Yes, it helps make the 'instant' connection more relatable. Good luck, Terrill!

You'll love it when you do. Good luck, Melissa!
DeleteLove everything about this book - a new to me author, awesome cover that grabs your attention from the get go, a title that makes my imagination start off running even before I read what the book is about, it's a romantic suspense story, and a rave review from Kav. How can you get better than that! Well guess it could be Alaska and they have an Amish friend, but if one book at it all then you wouldn't need to keep reading. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for the opportunity to win a copy of "THE TRAITOR'S PAWN"!

Bwahahaha -- we might go into bibliophile overload if all our favourite tropes were piled up into one book. But now that you mention Amish and Alaska in the same sentence I'm thinking that combination would make a mighty fine story. Good luck, Kay!
