Her Cowboy Reunion

GIVEAWAY
RETRO RE-READ DAY!
I was clearing out my shelves....again and discovered I had extra copies of two Love Inspired titles! So today I'm doing a retro-repeat giveaway -- One book went up at midnight and this one goes live at noon so make sure you check them both out!

HERNE, RUTH LOGAN
HER COWBOY REUNION

A new life...an old love. Can she risk loving him again in Shepherd's Crossing?

With her family in disgrace, Lizzie Fitzgerald never imagined she'd end up at an Idaho ranch. Fortunately, she's working with horses she loves -- even if it means dealing with her old sweetheart Heath Caufield. The widowed father of an adorable boy, Heath hasn't forgiven Lizzie for their past. But even a stubborn cowboy can't stop the heart's ability to forgive...or love again.

My Review:

published August 2018

Woohoo! A new Ruthy series! I'm already in love with Shepherds Crossing -- a struggling town that needs an infusion of community spirit to pull it through some trying times. And yes, I consider this town an important character in the book. Wish we could get 'her' perspective now and again -- oh the stories 'she' could tell! Starting with all the shenanigans going on at Sean Fiztgerald's old ranch.

Lizzie didn't know the uncle who left her part owner of his Idaho ranch but she has every intention of honoring his dreams for the place -- even if it comes with the man she's spent a decade trying to forget. Oh la la -- that emotionally charged first scene! There's tension galore that carries forward into an awkward partnership that morphs into wary friendship that transforms into...well...let's just say we get to the happily ever after long way round 'cause Lizzie and Heath are stubborn! And they remember things differently which means they are both carrying grudges based on half truths and...oy. There's lots to sort out.

Luckily they have a great cast of secondary characters to help them including an adorably precocious five-year-old named Zeke and Lizzie's almost-like-a-mama friend (and so much more), Corrie, whose wisdom is worth taking to heart.

"Sometimes we spin in circles because we've misplaced our direction. When we can't see our way forward we tend to run in place." (p 73)

See what I mean? And there's a lot of running in place and spinning circles when it comes to this hero and heroine. Heath has a son to consider and  the memory of a wife to honour and Lizzie just wants to distance herself from the debacle that is her family (well, aside from her sisters) and neither wants anything to do with the other. Really?!

And speaking of sisters -- they've yet to make an appearance but they are part of the inheritance too and future heroines in the series, I believe. But I also hope that a certain cowboy, namely Jace, might just find himself a hero of his own story too. I know, I'm a greedy reader who always wants more when it comes to Ruth Logan Herne's stories.
