Arctic Christmas Ambush

GIVEAWAY

SHACKELFORD, SHERRI
ARCTIC CHRISTMAS AMBUSH

Caught between a killer on the loose and a deadly snowstorm...

A man's been murdered, and the only witness is Alaska State Trooper Shane Taylor's ex, Kara Riley -- a woman he's sure has been keeping secrets. Now Shane and Kara are snowbound during a dangerous winter storm -- with the killer! Shane's convinced this has to be tied to Kara's past, and he needs to find the truth...before they become a murderer's next victims.

My Review:

Nothing says Christmas quite like murder and mayhem in Alaska! This romantic suspense grabbed me from the very first page. "The gunman was still in the house." Heart-hammering, hyperventilating creepy goodness ensues. And I absolutely love the balance between the danger and the investigating with healthy dollops of down time for romance. It's still fast paced but not in a frenzied kinda way and sometimes this suspense lover likes a more measured pace to her bedlam. :-)

And, oh-la-la, a reunion romance with two star-crossed lovers who have to dig deep to understand the part they each played in their breakup. I'm all toe-curls and heart emojis! Loved the way the author builds the tension between Shane and Kara. How sometimes they slip into an easy-going partnership only to become ill at ease when they butt heads over old issues. And, gah! Those issues. Spectacular!

Definitely a read-in-one-sitting kind of holiday fictional escape.

    1. The perils of being an avid reader. We must bear up under the pressure and soldier on, one book at a time. (or two if you're like me with one audio and one 'book' book on the go)

  11. I'll admit, I'm a little jealous that you read this before me. ;-) Sherri Shackelford was my very first experience with Harlequin's Love Inspired books and that particular LI historical is still one of my favorites. I miss the historicals ;-( I have Arctic Christmas Ambush on hold through my library, but I'm weeks and weeks away from being #1 in the queue. It also tends to take a little longer now with library limitations due to Covid, as well as the removal of library fines in our local library system. The library fine removal was prior to Covid and while Patrons are great about returning materials on time, with a limited system, quarantined patrons, etc., it's been notably more relaxed. If I were to win this one, I'd surely get it before my library has a copy in for me. Lol.

    1. Hooray that your library orders LIS! Mine doesn't. And hooray that this book has multiple holds on it! Hard to wait though when you're low on the list! I enjoyed Sherri Shackleford's LIH books too. So glad she made the transition to LIS. Good luck, Terrill!

  14. This is a book I'm desperate to read! We love sled dogs in our family, my brother has even been a dog handler in Alaska and a dog sled tour guide in Montana, and we have Alaskan Malamute pet dogs, so the cover totally has me won over.

    Blessings!
