Lakeshire Park

GIVEAWAY

WALKER, MEGAN
LAKESHIRE PARK

Brighton, England 1820

Amelia Moore wants only one thing -- to secure the future happiness of her younger sister, Clara. With their stepfather's looming death, the two sisters will soon be on their own -- without family, a home, or a penny to their names. When an invitation arrives to join a house party at  Lakeshire Park, Amelia grasps at the chance. If she can encourage a match between Clara and their host, Sir Ronald, then at least her sister will be taken care of.

Little does she know that another guest, the arrogant and overconfident Mr. Peter Wood, is after the same goal for his own sister. Amelia and Peter begin a rivalry that Amelia has no choice but to win. But competing against Peter -- and eventually playing by his rules -- makes Amelia vulnerable to losing the only thing she has left to claim: her heart.

My Review:

Eeeeep!!! So much swoonaliciousness that I broke the springs on my fainting couch! Let that be a warning to you and cue the smelling salts 'cause this is some major Regency perfection!

A love story full of charm and character and all that is so very proper but oh so frustrating about this time period. The banter is deliciously toe-curling and I loved, loved, loved!!! the way Amelia and Peter's relationship develops. They are both frank and opinionated -- both devoted to securing their sisters' futures... who unfortunately have their hearts set on the same gentleman!

So Amelia and Peter start off as kind of enemies (their meet-cute is hysterical and charged with romantical promise!) But as they start spending time together, well, you might need a back up lace fan to cool things down as you read on. Every word and phrase in this story is sheer bliss.

I listened to the audible edition narrated by Justine Eyre who elevated my Regency euphoria tenfold.

  1. I've only recently gotten into Regency Era novels, but I really like them so far! Julie Klassen, Erica Vetsch, and Michelle Griep are some of the authors I've read most.
