AMISH RECKONING
She can have him...or her secrets. But keeping them both could mean losing everything.
A new client is just what Gail Lapp's horse transportation business needs to survive. But as the single mom works with Amish horse traider Samuel Schrock, she's pulled back into the world she left behind. And even though returning to her Amish life is enticing, it isn't possible if she wants to keep the truth about her past hidden.
My Review:
I somehow missed the first book in this series and it sounds like it was a doozy if Malachai and Ruth are anything to go by in this one. They have secondary character billing in Amish Reckoning so if you've already met them you'll be happy to do some catching up.
I love the way the author drew me into the story from the very first scene. After the first chapter I had a sense of the struggles Gail and Samuel are dealing with -- enough to pique my interest even more because there are so many questions I needed answered. Especially about Gail's mysterious past! The way McClay left a breadcrumb trail of intriguing bits to piece together kept me frantically turning pages until I got the whole story.
Love the contrast between the hero and heroine. Samuel's all open and honest and easy going -- a charming flirt. He has a way with women that puts them at ease and he's never short of female attention...until Gail. Who definitely isn't charmed. She's prickly and wary and he seems to irritate her by simply breathing. Makes for an exciting read.:-)
McClay delivers a captivating contemporary romance filled with heart-tugging tension and depth of emotion. I'm definitely a fan.
